How to Build Up Your Immune System with Autoimmune & Other Chronic Diseases

What Exactly Does The Immune System Do?

The immune system is an amazing blessing to all humans. It allows the ability to ward off and fight against infections that might otherwise kill us. When we take a deep dive into standard medicine and how it looks at the human body we can begin to see the difference in underlying conditions related to individuals across the nation.

There is certainly a clear reason why so many women today are riddled with diseases and can’t seem to get to the root of their underlying conditions that started their disease in the first place.

The

Obesity and the Major Role it Plays on the Immune System

Obesity is currently at 42. 4 % for adults between the ages of 40 – 59, who have three times higher risk of being hospitalized with infections.

Most of the changes in an individual’s life depend on age, lifestyle and other risk factors which need to be taken into account. Like most chronic diseases, obesity shares the commonality of inflammation.

There is a strong link between adipose tissue and the immune system. There is also a pathological alteration in the immune function of the body. Adipose tissue in obesity tends to turn on the inflammatory gene response creating activity in the surrounding immune cells.

Inflammation can become a permanent factor in one’s body if left unimpeded. It will activate white blood cells, which are indicative that the immune system is functioning correctly.

White blood cells produce signalling proteins called cytokines which ward off foreign invaders in the body. However, adipose tissue also produces cytokines which cause inflammation.  Adipose tissue is an active endocrine organ which not only produces cytokines but also releases other vital proteins and chemicals.

By increasing fat in the body tissues this creates constant stress and inflammation, causing the body to permanently turn on inflammation pathways in the body. This mechanism causes regular flu, heart disease and diabetes, plus metabolic syndrome.

How to Get the Body Aligned and Balanced Again

We all know that extra fat causes havoc on the entire body. However, what can we do about it really makes a difference. Being aligned mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually is the key to the foundation needed to create a solid understanding of what makes one gain weight in the first place.

Understanding that inflammation in the body begins the cascade of a downward fall into a deep hole begins with understanding how the body can be affected. If you can understand the processes in which inflammation begins in the first place, it can give you insight on how to fight it preemptively.

It is possible to turn things around for the better. Reversing this state or process is possible, but know that it does take time. Patience is the number one virtue needed to get your mind and body connected and aligned.

Access to a community, a practitioner, coach,  friend or an accountability partner who’s also trying to improve their health is exactly what you need to stay on track. Remember, with consistency comes confidence. The positive snowball effect is what will create an overall wellness transformation.

Reasons to Choose Herbal Remedies to Sustain the Immune System

There are various alternative ways to support the immune system such as botanical herbs, homeopathy, traditional chinese medicine and ayurveda medicine, just to name a few. Here are some simple very common herbal remedies to support and sustain the immune system.

Black Elderberries – Black Elderberry is a plant that has been used since the 5th Century A.D. by both European and Native American herbalists. Black elderberry is called the “tree of music”, because Native Americans used to make flutes out of its bark. It’s often used in wines, syrups, jams and desserts. Elderberries are rich in antioxidants known as anthocyanins.

Echinacea and alkylamides – Echinacea is a flowering plant in the daisy family that is native of Europe and North America. It blooms in late summer and has bright colors of pink and purple. It has been a popular immune system strengthening botanical for centuries. Echinacea can be combined often with other botanicals such as golden seal.

Grindelia – is a plant that originates in America and is commonly called Asteraceae, (Compositae). Native Americans used this flowering herb for bronchial and skin conditions. In the 19th century many herbalists became aware of its therapeutic  abilities.

Recent studies demonstrate that Grindelia Robusta is important in the medicinal world of herbal medicine. Grindelia Robusta produces manoyl oxide, which is a foundation for natural diterpenoid metabolic pathways for biotechnology, bioenergy, resin and bioproducts.

Reishi mushrooms – has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over two thousand years. It is known as the “spiritual mushroom”. It contains polysaccharides known as beta-glucans which are known to support the body’s immune response. Reishi mushrooms are known as adaptogens which are important in supporting the stress response in the body.

Holistic medicine has been around for centuries. In fact it was once the only medicine known to man. It has its place in alternative medicine just as conventional and emergency medicine have their places.

Inflammation is the root of all evil in the body, causing oxidative stress, increased infections, toxin build up and other organ ailments. When we can better understand the negative effects that create inflammation in the body, it impacts how we treat our bodies on a daily basis.
