Homeopathy: A Window into this Dynamic Holistic Medicine

Homeopathy is a modality, I love. I’ve fallen in love with it more after the 3 years of study I completed at American Medical College of homeopathy. I’ve been using homeopathic remedies and herbal medicine since I was about 9 or 10 years old.

I was fortunate enough to be raised by my mother who is in holistic medicine. So when I went into conventional medical school I was able to understand holistic approaches in detail.

What is homeopathy you might ask? Homeopathy is not to be confused with herbal medicine. Homeopathy is a diluted remedy whereas herbal medicine comes from the root, steam or bark of a plant.

Homeopathy is diluted many times over. This is why there are less side effects when taking homeopathy. The more diluted the remedy is the more potent it becomes (this is where succession occurs creating vibrational energy).

You may or may not be familiar with the phrase ‘like cures like’. I’m not saying Homeopathy cures anything. It’s a principle healing of Similar suffering (derived from the Greek words) in which a medicine is chosen whose toxic symptoms mimic the symptoms the disease is causing in a healthy individual.

The research is done by provings where the metal, emotional and physical symptoms of a healthy individual are recorded. These provings can now help those with similar sickness or illness.

So think of hormesis or homeodynamics: In homeopathy we do not suppress symptoms. Let’s say you come in with symptoms to a homeopath which means that the homeodynamics of the body is not in flow.

The homeopathic remedy that you take will prevent you from becoming out of balance as well as it will stimulate the body into action once again. What we are concerned about is the vitality of flow which is homeodynamics. This is the flow or continual movement towards good health.

Say for example you had a hard day at work your boss yells at you. Eventually, you go home and sleep it off. Then you got up the next day and you’re feeling fine.

After a couple of months this continues but you go home and now you begin to have symptoms of insomnia. However homeodynamics has not taken place. Unfortunately, you become sick and you are not at the right frequency in life. So health is characterized by a flow of vitality.

That’s why it’s difficult to get a recommendation from any medical practitioner since herbal and homeopathic remedies are not regulated in the United States.

You can get herbals and homeopathic remedies off the shelves and buy them. However, if you’re not really familiar with how it works you’re really just self-medicating. You will eventually do more harm than good if you choose this route.

Professional homeopaths and herbal practitioners often need more information to get a better idea of what’s going on with your body then provide you with a recommendation.

That’s why when a homeopath does a consultation it may take 2-3 hours to get the whole story of who you are, the essence of who you are including your mental, emotional and physical symptoms.

Then we repertorize (which is a very complicated process to analyze your entire case). We look through hundreds of different remedies to come up with a particular remedy that best suits your case.

What’s interesting about homeopathy is that one remedy you may prescribe for one patient for their symptoms you most likely would not give the same remedy for another patient with the same symptoms individual.

We come with different stories, life experiences, emotional stress, and physical symptoms. Therefore, homeopaths have a very unique individualized and specialized way of coming up with a particular homeopathic remedy to fit your needs.

History of Homeopathy began in Germany by a man named Samuel Hahnemann. He was actually a physician who started to realize that so many people were having side effects from pharmaceutical drugs. So he found a way to reduce the side effects by diluting a remedy and its concentration.

Did you know that there are about a hundred million people worldwide that depend on Homeopathy solely as their main source of medical care? Homeopathy is also used in over 80 countries worldwide. In the United States people are becoming more and more aware of homeopathy and it’s positive effects on the body.

So why choose homeopathy as a holistic modality to help you with your health concerns? Well my answer is, it’s very safe, inexpensive, less side effects and homeopathy does not suppress symptoms.
